A - Professionals

B - Non Professionals

Level One - Little Children - (from accomplished 5, to accomplished 7 years of age)

Level Two -  First Steps (From accomplished 7, to accomplished 10 years of age)

Level Three - Beginners (From accomplished 10, to accomplished 13 years of age)

Level Four -  Young Hopefuls (From accomplished 13, to accomplished 16 years of age)

Level Five - Young Talents (From accomplished 16, to accomplished 19 years of age)

Level Six - Young Stars (from accomplished 19, to accomplished 21 years of age)

COMPETITION REPERTOIRE

Level One:


Classical Dance – optional Choreography (Variation) with a Classical Technique. Duration up to 1.30 minutes. 

Performance should be on demi-point. 

Optional Music of choice. (Classical Ballet Repertoire Music should not be used).

Contemporary Dance – optional Choreography in the respective Dance Genre.
Duration up to 2.30 minutes. Performance to be consistent with the respective Genre's Style.


Level Two:


Classical Dance – optional Choreography (Variation) with a Classical Technique. Duration up to 1.30 minutes. 

Performance should be on demi-point. 

Optional Music of choice. (Classical Ballet Repertoire Music should not be used).

Contemporary Dance – optional Choreography in the respective Dance Genre. 
Duration up to 2.30 minutes. Performance to be consistent with the respective Genre's Style.

Note: Variations may be in a simplified version, however without modifying the Classical Version.

Level Six:

ALL PARTICIPANTS IN LEVEL 6 ARE PERFORMING TWO VARIATIONS.


Classical Variations:

Girls:

Free choice of Variations,from the Classical Repertory.

Boys:

Free choice of Variations,from the Classical Repertory.


Contemporary Dance:

Author’s optional Choreography. Duration up to 3 minutes.


NOTE:

THE ABOVE REPERTOIRE IS RECOMMENDATORY AND ADVISORY.

AT THE TEACHER’S DISCRETION (DEPENDING ON THE PARTICIPANT’S TECHNICAL ABILITIES), A VARIATION FROM THE NEXT LEVEL UP MAY BE PRESENTED.


Art.6 

COMPETITION PROGRAM

In the First Round the Participants perform their Classical Variation.

In the Second Round the Participants perform their Contemporary Choreography.

In the Third Round the Participants perform again their Classical Variation, or their 2nd Variation (Levels 5 and 6)

In the Fourth Round the Participants perform again their Contemporary Choreography.


Art.7 

RECORDED MUSIC

Participants shall supply the Music for their Performances on 2 separate CDs - one for the Classical Variation and one for the Contemporary Choreography. 

Each CD shall bear the Participant’s Name/Registration Number plus the Title of the Performance.

IMPORTANT: The Teacher of each Participant must have a CD back-up copy of all musical material needed. On SEPARATE DISCS.


Art.8

SCORING SYSTEM

The Scoring System will be based on 10 points maximum. 

The final score will be calculated from the scores in each round (Average Mark).


Art.9

JUDGING

A Panel of four Judges for Classical Dance.

A Panel of four Judges for Contemporary Dance.

The Chairman of the Jury is the President of the Foundation, or an authorized by him/her Expert. 

The Chairman shall be entitled to two votes. 

NOTE: All disputable issues shall be settled with majority, by open ballot.



Art.10

ELIMINATIONS

There will be NO ELIMINATIONS in the Competition's Rounds. 

All participants will perform their full program. 

After the Fourth Round, the Best Performers will be nominated at their respective Level, and the Awards will be determined. 

NOTE: The Jury shall be entitled not to adjudge all the awards.

Art.12

COSTUMES


Level One – Girls: The costumes are chosen by the respective Tutor.

Level One – Boys: The costumes are chosen by the respective Tutor.


Level Two – Girls: Pink leotard, coloured maillot, and a tutu of the colour of the maillot. For the Contemporary Dance – ballet slippers of body color or barefoot, footless unitard.

Level Two – Boys: Black cut leotard, white T-shirt, white ballet slippers and socks. For the Contemporary Dance – ballet slippers (body colour) or barefoot and footless unitard.



Level Three – Girls: Classical Ballet costume – tutu, pointe shoes, pink leotard. For the Contemporary Dance – at choreographer’s option.

Level Three – Boys: Classical ballet costume - Leotard and ballet shoes in a relevant colour.
For the Contemporary Dance – a costume at Choreographer’s option.


Level Four – Girls: Classical Ballet costume – tutu. Pink leotard and pointe shoes. Accessories for the head according to the performed variation. For the Contemporary Dance – a costume at Choreographer’s option.

Level Four – Boys: Classical Ballet costume according to the style of the performed Variation.
For the Contemporary Dance – a costume at Choreographer’s option.


Level Five – Girls: Classical Ballet costume – tutu. Pink leotard and pointe shoes. Accessories for the head according to the performed variation. For the Contemporary Dance – a costume at Choreographer’s option.

Level Five – Boys: Classical ballet costume according to the style of the performed variation. 
For the Contemporary Dance – a costume at Choreographer’s option.

Art.13

FINANCIAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS


Participation Fee - 145 EUR.

The Participation Fee is for Rehearsals on Stage, Training in TWO Ballet Studios and eventual Rehearsals on demand.


All Participants are supposed to cover their travel, accommodation and daily expenses for the whole duration of the Competition.


IMPORTANT:

A candidate is elligible only after presenting a Document for a paid Participation Fee.

A copy or scan of the Payment Document is sent to <[email protected]> for Registration.



Art.14

GENERAL CONDITIONS


1. Applications for participation are accepted until the maximum allowed number of Participants is reached.

2. All participants shall be entitled to one stage rehearsal for each round. The duration of the rehearsal shall be 3 minutes.

3. Training class shall be provided to applicants.

4. To participation in the competition, under Level One, shall be entitled only those, who can provide a certificate proving to have taken ballet classes for at least 4 years.

5. The criteria for determination of participant’s age group shall be the first day of the competition. Should the participant’s date of birth is the first day of the competition, the participant is supposed to perform in the group having accomplished this age.

6. Dancers having been awarded the first prize, shall be entitled to participation in the workshops of “Varna” International Summer Dance Academy without depositing the participation fee.

7. In case that one Award is shared between more than one Participant,the Awarded Participants share the monetary amount,

provided for that Award. 


Art.15 

DECISIONS AND MARKS


The Decisions and the Judges' marks are final and binding, and shall not be subject to appeal.

NOTE: THE PERSONAL MARKS OF THE JURY MEMBERS ARE NOT SUBJECT OF PUBLIC PRESENTATION.


Art.16

Kalina Bogoeva Foundation reserves the right for any changes to the Reglament of the Competition.
